Mission Statement:  The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as:

File Clerk & General Office Clerk
Keyboarding techniques; communication skills; computation skills; records management; professional development; introduction to spreadsheets.

Network Support Help Desk
Identify configuration problems with software, hardware and network; set up hardware; install software; and keep repair logs.

Network Support Specialist
Troubleshoot hardware problems; maintain network printers; configure E-mail; configure GUI files and operating system.

Network Administration
Resolve customer conflicts; management skills; install a network; implement network security; prepare for network certification.

Description:

This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in network support service positions. The content includes instruction in computer literacy; software application support; basic hardware configuration and troubleshooting; network technologies, diagnostic troubleshooting, security, and administration; and customer service and human relations skills.

This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the network support service industry: planning; management; finance; technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, and environmental issues.

          Information Technology Assistant            150 hours

          Computer Support Assistant                     300 hours

          Network Support help Desk Asst              450 hours

          Network Support Administrator                600 hours

          Senior Network Administrator                   750 hours

          Wireless Network Administrator               900 hours

          Data Communications Analyst                  1050 hours

Employment Outlook
Students earning a vocational certificate in Network Support Services are eligible for jobs with starting salaries of up to $30,000 a year. The employment outlook is excellent.
