Mission Statement:
The
purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment
as nursing assistant/nurse aides in nursing homes, or to provide
supplemental training for persons previously, or currently employed
in these occupations. Successful completion of the program prepares
the student for certification and employment as a Nursing Assistant
in a nursing home in accordance with Chapter 82-163, Florida Statutes.
NOTE: This
Nursing Assistant program is the first segment of the Patient
Care Assistant program at High Tech North. The Nursing
Assistant segment is combined with the required Health Core for
all medical programs. Also

Description:
The
content includes, but is not limited to anatomy, moving and lifting,
comfort and safety, communication and human relations, legal and
ethical responsibilities, infection control, personal care and
elimination, geriatric care, restorative activities, and employability
skills.
Employment
Outlook: Excellent. Program completers will have their choice
of positions in many nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, areas
hospitals, and ALF's (Assisted Living Facilities: extended care centers). Students completing
the program will be eligible to take the Florida State Certification
Exam.
